The ''Bund der Energieverbraucher'' (energy user association) in Germany starts a competition to save electric power. Each saved kWh is rewarded by 2.-EUR

Saving electricity is uneconomically

Since years is my household very optimzed at the electric power consumption. Last year, my electric power conumption increased 300 kWh, because of 6000km with my electric scooter. On the other side had been 500 litre Diesel saved. Because mainly short distances and city traffic had been replaced, I take the norm consumption of my Seat Alhambra for city traffic.

At the electric power saving competition, I could easy save 30 kWh. I would have only to renounce 1 month for my electric scooter. I would receive 60.-EUR bonus from the energy user association and would have used 5.-EUR less electric power.

But regretfully, this 65.-EUR are opposed by 41,67 litre Diesel for 53.-EUR and 15.-EUR parking fee.

This example shows how absurd it is to save only a certain sort of energy

Convert Diesel in electric power

A more reasonable method would be not only read the current meter, but to convert also other energy usage to electric power.

One litre Diesel can be converted in a CCPP into 5,8 kWh electric power. So the energy consumption of my minvan in city traffic is 48,33 kWh. So the 500km with the minvan had to be evaluated by 241 kWh electric power usage.
