Sheep wool insulationEach cubicmeter contains 16 kg sheep wool. Each sheep delivers about 2 kg wool per year. But how does it happen, that wool is nearly not more expensive than other insulation? | ||
Austrian mountain sheeps have a scratchy wool. Formerly as in Austria was an appreciable textile industry, this wool was used. Now is only very few textile industry in Austria remaining. The last companies are in a high price segment and do not work up scratchy wool from Austria. For modern textiles is wool from New Zealand sheeps used.
For Austrian sheep cultivators is the insulation industry nearly the only purchaser of wool. The price depends on the competition with other insulation materials. This is the reason why insulation with sheep wool is surprising inexpensive. |
